I don't often agree with Nancy Nall but I like what she says here. Below are some examples of said self-righteous/Debbie Downer types hating on the royals.

Garbage Collectors

Nancy links to and discusses an essay by a journalist who married a garbage-truck driver. Incidentally, last night on TCM they showed a Finnish movie, Shadows in Paradise, about a garbage-truck driver and his budding romance with a supermarket cashier.

Nancy Nall's New Typeface

I visited NancyNall.com a few minutes ago, and I love the new cursive typeface. I'm going to hazard a guess that it's Vanilla Daisy Script.

Spectral is indeed the body copy font, designed specifically for extra screen legibility for long reads—and the wacky summer-y script font is Pacifico (also sourced from Google web fonts.)

Nancy freaks out because she sees a teenager reading an actual newspaper, and not just skimming the sports page. What, kids shouldn't read the paper? I've been reading the paper daily since at least I was ten, and probably before then.

Looking back at these blog posts, I'm reminded of when I first heard of Nancy Nall.

The Month of Janus

January derives its name from the two-faced god of beginnings and endings, and of portals. In this month we look back and ahead. In March this blog will mark its tenth anniversary. Instead of a retrospective of 2015, I have to think about a retrospective of this decade. Hattie observed her blog's tenth anniversary last fall, and Nancy Nall's fifteenth anniversary of blogging is drawing close. Social media gets the glory now, but blogs allow for posts to be as long or short as the blogger likes. More soon.
